What is iDio?
iDio is a lot of things, but the best way to explain who we are is this: a team inspired to create software business solutions. At iDio, we love turning business ideas into software solutions that power companies to new levels.
Most people believe we only specialise in website development and design, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. While we are fantastic at building websites and designing them beautifully, we do so much more: booking systems, AI voice agents, AI chatbots, SEO optimisation, AI-powered SEO, AI automation, and more.
If a business has an idea that can be solved with software, iDio can help bring it to life.
The Beginning
In August 2024, my mum wanted to get some takeaway nearby. There weren’t many spots around where I lived, so we would usually get the same food. But this time I wanted something new, something different. I went on Google Maps and searched for “takeaway restaurants near me.” I found one restaurant, the cuisine looked good, the location looked good, but when I went to check their menu… nothing. It just took me to their Facebook page with an outdated menu from 2018.
I went on to the next restaurant, same thing happened. I started to get frustrated and kept telling myself, “Why do these restaurants not have websites?” And that’s when it hit me. I knew this was a problem many people were facing, and there weren’t any solutions around for it.
What was the problem? Small, local businesses don’t have the capital to build websites, and that’s how iDio was born. I went to some university friends, pitched the idea, and they loved it. Next thing we knew, iDio was up and running.
Struggles and Challenges
Our first few customers were smaller businesses who wanted a website for a low price. Since we were university students, we could charge a lower price, and it was working. But very early on we realised something, fulfilment was the easy part. Creating the website and delivering it to clients wasn’t hard. It was everything besides that: finding clients, handling contracts, handling quotes, thinking of a pricing structure, etc.
We struggled with this, but I took up this mantle. We stepped back from the technical side of things (bringing another team member on to offset this) and shifted towards a more business-focused perspective, mainly learning the business processes of iDio.
But then we encountered another issue: relevance. Although building websites for small and medium-sized businesses was good, it wasn’t enough, especially when our competitors included platforms like Squarespace and Wix, other larger companies, and the holy grail AI.
So we had to find a way to keep iDio relevant. After some thinking and deep research, we realised another market gap: AI automation. AI was becoming so powerful, and the economic and efficiency benefits were outstanding. But most businesses didn’t understand this. So, we expanded iDio’s services to include AI automation as well.
The Present and The Future
As of this writing, iDio has worked with around six clients mostly creating websites, but also booking systems and AI tools. Growth has been slow, but that’s understandable considering we are university students balancing busy lives.
But the future of iDio looks bright. We have an amazing team, filled with smart, motivated, and capable people. This is the first of hopefully many blogs the iDio team is going to write.
As the CEO, I always need to be thinking about the future of the business. One thing I would like is to create a community. I don’t just want iDio to be a business; I want it to be a community where people can learn, grow, and discuss. I hope this blog is the first step towards creating a future like this.
I hope you enjoyed this little article about the story of iDio. We are still very new, so our story might not be that interesting, but hopefully, as time passes, we will have more stories, more successes, and of course more struggles to share. We don’t just want to share our successes, but our struggles and mistakes as well.
